This research entails biological studies of brain tumors in rodents and human tissues to discover novel effective treatments for patients suffering from brain tumors. The Junior Specialist will contribute to laboratory management as well as the collection of high-quality data for our research team. Specific duties include: histological and biochemical preparation of tissues; tissue sectioning and staining; immunofluorescence staining, biochemical analysis, and confocal microscopy; glioma-neuronal co-culture experiments, dissociating tissues into cell culture, spatial proteomics and transcriptomics of murine and human tumor and brain specimen; experimental surgeries, such as the stereotactic inoculation of tumor cells in the brain and stereotactic delivery of oncogenes that induce brain tumors in rodents; the administration of drug therapies to rodents; quantifying rodent tumor sizes; preparing tumor cells for therapy models; placing supply orders and resolving housekeeping issues; and assisting with the preparation of abstracts and manuscripts.
