Overview
This is a laboratory technician II position. Primary responsibility is to accession samples/cases submitted to the Utah Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (UVDL).

Responsibilities
  • Receive samples of animal origin submitted to the UVDL for testing.
  • Enter veterinarian, clinic, and animal owner information into the laboratory information management system (LIMS).
  • Enter sample identification numbers and types into the LIMS.
  • Package samples appropriately and deliver to the respective laboratories.
  • Assist in other laboratory sections as time and training permit.


Qualifications
Minimum Qualification:
  • Two years of experience; or an associate degree/vocational training; or an equivalent combination of education plus experience is required in a biological science.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10-key expertise
  • Strong attention to detail

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to follow routine verbal or written instructions.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  • Skill in providing guidance and instruction in laboratory protocols and in the safe use of laboratory equipment.
  • Knowledge of experimental procedures, protocols, and preparation techniques within area of specialty.
  • Computer skills including, spreadsheet and word-processing programs.
