Minimum Qualifications:

An earned doctorate in Animal Science, Microbiology, Immunology, or a related doctoral degree with emphasis on the effect of gut microbiome population on animal efficiency. Demonstrated excellence in conducting and publishing high-impact research, developing an independent research program, and collaborating within interdisciplinary teams of scientists. Strong speaking and writing communication skills are required. Selected candidates are expected to be active in the department's graduate program, including mentoring and directing graduate students as their major faculty advisor and serving as a member of student advisory committees. The selected candidate will be asked to recruit and educate students through academic programs in Animal Science and should have a strong commitment to undergraduate and training, as well as participating in departmental activities Courses may be developed or assigned by the department head based on the candidate's expertise and departmental curriculum needs. This includes developing an introductory course in Animal Microbiome and co-instruction/contribute 2-3 courses within the department including 'Analytical Methods', and development of a graduate level data analytics/techniques course. Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in fundamental research that encompasses molecular to organismal levels and has application to livestock animals. Experience in successful grant writing and relevant post-doctoral studies are preferred.
