Job Purpose:

The Buyer is responsible for managing inventory and creating purchase orders for stock and non-stock parts at JX. This role involves building strong supplier relationships, coordinating inter-facility transfers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting, receiving, and warehousing issues. The Buyer ensures that the right products are available at the right time while supporting continuous improvement efforts and upholding company values.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Honor Commitments:




  • Perform daily review to identify and execute purchase requirements for assigned parts categories (i.e. reviewing and gathering inventory data, placing orders, determination of locations to receive inventory, etc).



  • Ensure accurate and timely purchase orders while acknowledging supplier commitments.



  • Verifies prices against any contractual agreements and/or market based priced raw materials.




Create Positive Experiences:




  • Partner with cross-functional teams (receiving, accounting, warehousing) to resolve issues and create seamless experiences for all stakeholders. Proactively communicate and resolve delivery gaps.




Foster Lifelong Learning:




  • Become knowledgeable about commodities, stay current on market trends, and assist in creating Work Instructions or Standard Operating Procedures.



  • Work closely with procurement leadership to develop skills and expertise in spot buys and cost-saving opportunities.




Exhibit Pioneering Spirit:




  • Identify and recommend process improvements for purchasing activities, and assist in company-wide continuous improvement initiatives.



  • Innovate by developing item parameters (min/max, replenishment points) and ensuring they are consistently managed.




Demonstrate Good Stewardship:




  • Ensure Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is considered when placing purchase orders, delivering the best value for the company.



  • Manage indirect purchasing activities (MRO) when needed, ensuring resources are utilized efficiently.

  • Adapt to the evolving needs of the organization and undertake additional responsibilities as required, reflecting our commitment to flexibility and responsiveness in meeting business objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:




  • Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree in supply chain, data management, quality assurance, or a similar field is preferred.



  • Minimum of 2 years in procurement or supply chain, with a proven ability to manage purchasing execution and supplier performance. Distribution, transportation, or indirect buying experience is a plus.



  • Skills:





    • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to develop positive supplier relationships.



    • Proficient in ERP systems (Microsoft AX, D365, SAP) and Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills.



    • Analytical mindset with a focus on detail, statistical analysis, and problem-solving.



    • Strong sense of urgency, able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.



    • Willingness to recommend process changes to benefit the organization.





  • Ability to work collaboratively across functions such as marketing, quality, and operations.
