About the Role:

The role has 2 scopes, including leading a team of Regional Patient Access Managers to provide field access support services and education to Health Care Professionals (HCPs), helping to optimize patient access to Company products and accelerate time to treatment, as well as individually working patient access and education for a region. Leads a team of subject matter experts on coverage issues for written prescriptions for Company products in process, access support services, processes and forms, distribution, education on payer specific coverage issues, policies and processes, and Company patient financial support programs. Acts as the main interface with Field Sales Sr. Leadership, national accounts, payer marketing, commercial analytics and operations to develop and execute the patient access strategy. Provides feedback to corporate management on local patient access challenges.

Your Contributions (include, but not limited to):
  • Leads, motivates and develops an effective and compliant Regional Patient Access Manager (RPAM) field-based team and patient access strategy for rare disease.

  • Cooperates and coordinates cross-functionally with field sales, national accounts, patient services, network specialty pharmacy, and home office colleagues within market access and other related functional departments, such as commercial analytics and operations, to support patient access with targeted payers.

  • Responsible for providing patient access support services and education at the regional level, including interactions with HCPs, office support staff, helping to maximize patient access to Company products.

  • Subject matter expert on regional and national payer coverage policies and processes.

  • Provides training and education on payer-specific coverage policies and documentation requirements, appeals processes for specific payers and patient financial assistance support programs, including Company copay assistance programs and patient assistance program.

  • Identifies and communicates payer issues with market access leadership and the national account directors (NAD) team.

  • Communicates regularly to management, both corporate and field-based, the opportunities and challenges related to patient access, the Hub and Specialty Pharmacy network.

  • Presents insight into payer coverage policies and processes at internal business reviews to leadership and at national/regional sales meetings.

  • Works to ensure a diverse and inclusive environment free from all forms of discrimination and harassment.

Requirements:
  • BS/BA degree in related field and 15+ years of life science experience of which 5+ years needs to be in specialty pharmacy/market access and five years' leading a team within commercial. Specialty product experience, rare disease required. Endocrinology experience preferred OR

  • Master's or MBA degree preferred and 13+ years of related experience OR

  • PhD and 10+ years of related experience and Extensive previous managerial experiences also required

  • Previous experience in other life science roles in highly preferred

  • Recognized as an internal thought leader with extensive technical and business expertise within a strategic organization

  • Applies in-depth knowledge of own function, business / commercial / scientific expertise to solve critical issues successfully and innovatively

  • Evaluates key business / scientific challenges and completes complex, ambiguous initiatives having cross-functional impact

  • Ability to coach, lead and motivate a field team

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills. demonstrated project and people management capabilities

  • Excellent interpersonal and cross functional team success. proven ability to build productive relationships and teams internally and externally

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Strong understanding of the prescription adjudication process

  • Ability to communicate payer coverage criteria and prior authorization processes

  • Possesses good understanding of current issues within the marketplace, pharmaceutical industry, and national health care system

  • Strong understanding of specialty pharmacies, managed care, pharmacy benefit managers and government payers, and their impact on product access

  • Excellent working knowledge of patient support programs, including reimbursement support, financial assistance, and adherence programsCertified Prior Authorization Specialist

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $188,500.00-$272,875.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 35% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
