JOB SUMMARY Join us at UT Southwestern, where you will be part of the Research and Academic Systems (RAS) team within the Department of Information Resources. You will help create and support technical solutions that serve the technology needs of the institution's research and education core missions. In this role, you will be responsible for new and existing software development and enhancements. You will troubleshoot issues, analyze current systems, and work with diverse talents such as clinicians and researchers. This position is eligible for a hybrid remote work schedule. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Required
- Education
High School Diploma supplemented by successful completion of vocational training in computer programming
- Experience
7 years of experience in computer operation and/or programming, including at least one (1) year as Programmer Analyst II or equivalent College degree in related field may be used in lieu of experience. - Preferred Experience
- Ability to assist with database design and develop solutions using SQL.
- Web application development Working knowledge of web applications, including basic networking (ports and protocols), HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Familiarity with MVC (Model-View-Controller) frameworks such as ASP.NET, Django, Java Spring, Laravel, and Ruby on Rails * Mobile app development Experience supporting or developing mobile apps, including API or backend development and front-end development.
- Programming languages Working knowledge of programming languages such as C#, Java, PHP, Python, and Ruby.
- Operating systems Experience working with a variety of operating systems, such as Windows, MacOS, and Linux.
- Experience working on servers is a bonus.
- JOB DUTIES
- Defines and analyzes business and/or scientific problems of most complex type or assists user personnel in analyzing and defining such problems for computer solutions.
- Designs computer system to accomplish solution of each problem, integrating computer capabilities with user requirements.
- Reanalyzes computer programming problems from original design and makes modifications as necessary.
- Selects or modifies existing computer programs or applicable program systems and structures data formats for solution of problems.
- Implements or leads implementation of systems or job streams.
- Assists in estimating required project resources.
- Provides technical advice and guidance to other computer professionals for solution of work problems.
- Maintain and create technical documentation.
- Modify or enhance existing software solutions and databases as necessary.
- Designs and develops software solutions, including database schemas, with particular focus on web-based applications.
