SHIFT: Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm
This position analyzes, manages, and reports on cost-related data to optimize our financial performance. The Cost Analyst will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, supply chain, and product development, to ensure cost-effectiveness and alignment with the company's strategic objectives. Additionally, this role acts as support to the finance team providing accuracy in financial reporting and performing various analyses.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:


  • Analyze and maintain accurate product cost structures, including direct and indirect costs (labor, material, overhead).
  • Develop, monitor, and refine standard costing models to ensure consistency with actual costs and industry benchmarks.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual cost variance reports, highlighting deviations and recommending corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with product development, production, and procurement teams to gather cost data for new and existing product lines.
  • Perform cost-benefit analyses and provide input on pricing strategies to optimize profitability.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting costs by leveraging historical data and identifying trends, cost-saving opportunities, and improving cost structures.
  • Support the Finance team during high-demand periods including month-end closing, audits, and forecast planning cycles.
  • Collaborate on cross-departmental projects and initiatives, including the implementation of new software and new/improved processes to enhance efficiency, streamline workflows, and reduce costs.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and financial regulations, particularly with cost control and reporting.
  • Respond to ad-hoc financial analysis requests from cross-functional teams and management as needed.


SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in cost analysis, financial analysis, or a related field, preferably within the medical technology or manufacturing sector, or a combination of 2 to 3 years in a financial audit company followed by 2 to 3 years in a manufacturing/distribution company in cost analysis and FP&A.
  • Proficiency in ERP/AIS systems (e.g. SAP, Microsoft Dynamics GP, Cognos, Management Reporter) and advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel) skills for financial modeling, data analysis, and presentation of findings. Power BI experience is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize extensive data sets into actionable insights.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and organizational abilities.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Familiarity with GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.
  • Experience in manufacturing and distribution transaction intensive industries, ideally in the medtech or life sciences industry.
  • Knowledge of cost accounting principles in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in Lean or Six Sigma process improvement methodologies.
  • Minimum 40 hours per week.
  • Able to sit for long periods of time.
  • This role is primarily office-based, with occasional visits to manufacturing or office sites. 5% Travel may be required for customer visits, supplier interactions, or field analysis.
