What this position entails

IntelliScript is seeking an experienced and dynamic Legal Director to lead our legal and compliance team and oversee IntelliScript legal affairs. This role will provide strategic legal advice, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, manage litigation, manage the contracting process, and provide legal support new and existing business initiatives.

The Legal Director will report directly to IntelliScript's executive leadership team and will play a critical role in shaping the legal strategy and risk management framework of the organization.

What you will be doing



  • Provide expert legal advice to executive leadership and senior management on legal matters including HIPAA, privacy, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and other relevant law
  • Develop and implement legal and regulatory strategies to support existing and new business initiatives and product offerings
  • Manage all aspects of litigation, including discovery, strategy development and coordination with external counsel(s)
  • Negotiate, draft, and manage contracts with clients, vendors, and partners, ensuring favorable terms and compliance with relevant obligations
  • Oversee contract approval
  • Establish, manage, and maintain outside counsel relationships, as necessary
  • Collaborate with and counsel various internal departments (IT, InfoSec, Product, Relationship Management, and Operations) to support IntelliScript needs
  • Consult with Milliman's Global Corporate Services team(s) to ensure legal and regulatory alignment
  • Oversee IntelliScript's intellectual property management program, including associated outside counsel relationships
  • Participate and contribute a member of IntelliScript's senior leadership team to help foster an open and collaborative culture of continuous improvement and innovation
  • Manage IntelliScript Legal & Compliance department staff
  • Maintain a keen business sense and provide solutions-oriented legal advice
  • Special legally relevant projects, as assigned


What we need



  • Member of the State Bar in good standing
  • 10+ years of experience in a senior in-house legal role, preferably within technology, consumer reporting, or privacy sectors
  • In-depth knowledge of legal areas including HIPAA, privacy, FCRA, contracts, insurance, and AI
  • Demonstrated experience managing a team

Location

The expected application deadline for this job is January 30, 2025. This position is open to remote work. Applicants must be willing to travel to the Milliman office in Brookfield, WI as needed and travel nationwide for meetings, conferences, and team events (up to 10%).

The salary range for this position is $168,000 - $352,000 depending on a combination of factors, including but not limited to education, relevant work experience, qualifications, certifications, location, etc. In addition, we offer a signicant performance-based bonus plan, prot sharing, and generous benets.
