Full time NP or PA opportunity as the Thoracic Oncology Service Line Coordinator. Day shift/ clinic hours. Job duties include:
- Point of contact for the oncology program patients and providers
- Receive and review internal and external referrals.
- Perform initial consult visit on all cancer patients.
- Order and schedule appropriate testing for ongoing cancer follow-up or staging.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to ensure appropriate and efficient treatment plans are in place.
- Presents and coordinates tumor board patient presentations.
- Provide education and support through the cancer journey including but not limited to, assistance in understanding diagnosis, treatment options, and medication regimens.
- Facilitates and streamlines communication across the care continuum
- Work across healthcare disciplines to ensure timely appointments, results reporting and communication.
- Identify potential barriers to care.
- Development of patient education materials, clinical pathways, and quality studies.
- Participate in diagnosis related clinical trials.
- Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
- Knowledgeable of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
- Work with cancer registry staff and others to collect data, track outcomes and support strategic planning processes.
- Consistently deliver the best in customer service and patient care. As a team member, demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with patients, families, visitors and other employees.
What We Require:
Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner Program or Bachelors degree and graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program required.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years clinical experience preferred
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Current state Licensed Nurse Practitioner (LNP) and Registered Nurse (RN) licensure or Certification by the NCCPA, current Physician Assistants license (PA) required. DEA licensure required
Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP certification required. Advanced Life Support certification preferred
Other Minimum Qualifications: Eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with State regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Boards of Nursing and Medicine. Qualifies for malpractice insurance and is accepted by Carilion Clinic's malpractice insurance carrier. Meets credentialing requirements. Demonstrates good written and oral communication skills. Computer literacy required for automated computer systems and programs such as electronic medical records.
