The Technical Business Leader, under the leadership of the Business Manager of Omniseal Solutions' Energy cluster, is the driving force behind the development of our business towards novel applications to answer the evolving needs of our customers worldwide. The role is positioned at the cross-roads of technical and Sales/business development. The Technical Business Leader will combine a high level of understanding of the evolving technical challenges facing our customers and matches that with our growing internal capabilities.

An advocate for innovation expansion within the Energy cluster and Omiseal Solutions as a whole, this role ensures coordination of all functions and fosters an active innovation spirit.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:



  • Market challenges identification & innovation need mapping. Including performing exploratory market studies on emerging innovation needs, unaddressed pain points and technical sealing challenges in Energy sector. Characterize main innovative applications, material platforms and /or technologies and identify technical needs from key players that would lead to new significant business opportunities for Cluster
  • Solution Innovation - Technical contours definition, opportunity identification & investment viability . This includes act as interface between customer technical teams and internal R&D experts; support risk & economic viability assessment of innovation leads generated; gauge attractiveness of new development: whether innovations require new know-how acquisition, manufacturing investments, production methods improvement, supply chain evolutions or possible partnership.
  • Technical sales activity (global responsibility). Including identify, project-manage, and close large value opportunities (LVOs); represent Omniseal solutions at relevant trade shows to discuss technical challenges with prospective customers; initiate and Negotiate applicable customer contracts
  • Project management including animate cross-functional task forces to assess feasibility of technical innovation, devise a plan to develop solution, size the effort and the resource need; Develop and quantify value-creating scenarios to capture new business opportunities; Make synthetic recommendations and propose pragmatic solutions to management based on market and technology assessments.


As part of the solution innovation side of the role, the Technical Business Leader will explore, assess, and influence the development of new innovative designs to address growing needs from customers (in particular those seeking to disrupt the energy industry by actively developing new solutions to address the world's energy & sustainability challenges). They will identify opportunities for Omniseal Solutions to grow, and closely work with the technical leadership team and the operations team to contribute developing new offerings which push us beyond the established perimeter. Further they will provide support to the sales and business development managers in Europe, North America and Asia to direct them toward new opportunities.

The role requires:



  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Innovation Management or similar is required.
  • Masters Degree is preferred.
  • 5-7 years of mechanical engineering experience is required.
  • A solid technical background enabling understanding of Omiseal Solution wide product portfolio capabilities and its applications is highly preferred.
  • Ability to interact and collaborate with all functions from sales to R&D including AE, VDT and manufacturing required.
  • An understanding of the challenges beyond application design all the way to manufacturing.
  • An ability to understand clients' technical needs and brainstorm solutions beyond current established ones is required.
  • An appetite for commercial development through technical solutions innovation.
  • A keen eye to analyze market trends, spot patterns of recurring requests.
  • A working understanding of economical drivers to understand cost structure and pricing strategy underlying a potential new solution development.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build a strong level of commitment and direction, both internally and externally is required.

Certain states require pay information be provided in job postings. Saint-Gobain aims to deliver a comprehensive Total Rewards package to support our employees' wellbeing and help improve daily life for themselves and their families. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the national pay range for this position which is $87,500.00 to $135,500.00 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 12% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $98,000.00 to $151,700.00. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
