Kratos Space & Missile Defense Systems, Inc. is seeking a motivated Electrical Technician to support manufacturing, testing and operation of advanced electrical systems for sub-orbital rocket vehicles. The successful candidates will be responsible for practical understanding of launch vehicle system(s) as well as for providing technical support as needed and assisting lead technician(s) and engineer(s) as needed. Daily activities may include but are not limited to:



  • Assembly of electrical and electro-mechanical devices.
  • Building, and setting up equipment.
  • Preparing and conducting qualification and acceptance tests.
  • Performing system integration and testing.
  • Operating support equipment during launch operations.
  • Must be able to read mechanical drawings and wiring schematic diagrams, assemble cabling, and integrate electronic/mechanical components into space flight vehicles.
  • May required to travel up to 30% of the time to support integration and launch operations. Travel is mission schedule dependent and may vary.


PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS -



  • Familiar with space system electrical cabling and electrical interconnects including harnesses, specialty connectors, circuit card interconnects.
  • Assembles electrical systems and electrical harnessing for suborbital launch vehicles under the direction of senior technical staff.
  • Tests and operates electrical systems and harnessing for suborbital launch vehicles under the direction of senior technical staff.
  • Generates test plans, documents test results and creates post-test reports.
  • Reviews requirements, configuration documents and wiring schematics to ascertain appropriate test specifications, test equipment, procedures, and objectives.
  • Assesses problems encountered during testing and rapidly formulates, communicates, and executes a solution.
  • Executes launch field assembly and checkout of subsystems prior to final vehicle assembly.
  • Assists in vehicle loading and support equipment hook-up.
  • Supports countdown operations by arming electrical systems and operating ground support equipment.


SECONDARY -

Generates wiring schematics and interface control documents (ICDs) for integration of launch vehicle systems.

Required Experience:

Required Skills and Experience:



  • Knowledge of MIL SPEC Cable fabrication.
  • Knowledge of power design/power electronics.
  • Hands-on experience and basic knowledge of electrical cabling.
  • Ability to solder small cable assemblies and perform circuit card rework under a microscope.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer skills are necessary.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Military communications or electronics experience or training.
  • Knowledge and use of general shop tools.
  • Comfortable working around and with ordnance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work from ladder.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Two years of post-high school education with a focus on electronics, mathematics, or other engineering related courses.
  • Minimum of 5 years practical experience.
  • J-STD-001xS solder certified.
  • Crimp, Cable, and Harness certified (either NASA 8739.4 or IPC-WHMA-A-620).
