Excellent opportunity to join our Polypropylene Catalyst operations in Louisville, KY as a Chemical Operator. Our Chemical Operator utilizes various manufacturing systems, mainly installed Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)/Distributive Control Systems (DCS), and processes to safely, effectively, and efficiently produce quality material at the identified productivity targets.

Responsibilities



  • Follow operating discipline, procedures, and practices to ensure a safe and efficient operation of assigned duties.
  • Operate control systems with the ability to identify and correct errors as required.
  • Learn proper operation of plant equipment (cooling tower, refrigeration equipment, vacuum systems, steam distribution systems, sewer systems, packaging equipment).
  • Operate forklift truck for movement of materials from one location to another.
  • Manage sample and test material for quality assurance purposes and/or collect samples for submission for testing; conduct in-process quality checks; properly document analysis numbers and take proper action based on quality data as necessary.
  • Issue Safe Work Permits and Pre-Task Hazard Analysis for maintenance and project work.
  • Learn how to read P&IDs.
  • Perform daily/weekly/monthly inspections.



Requirements



  • High School Diploma or GED (some college is a plus).
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience and/or training in manufacturing or food processing (chemical manufacturing is a major plus).
  • Proficient computer skills, skilled in SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Leadership capabilities to effectively work with team members.
  • Excellent safety record with a demonstrated ability to approach safety issues proactively.
  • Excellent mechanical and spatial aptitude.
  • Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including holidays, weekends, and overtime. Operating needs of the unit will dictate the work schedule.
  • Solid communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Must follow all plant safety guidelines and policies, which includes the wearing of fire-retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (PPE, Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus), and Air Purifying Respirators.
