The Opportunity

Ulteig is excited to announce we are seeking a Civil Engineer who will engage with Ulteig's civil teams to provide innovative design solutions to facilitate the development, design, and construction support of transportation projects. The selected candidate will be involved with the design of small to large multi-discipline projects, support developing client relationships, and assist with business development. The ideal candidate must meet the following criteria:



  • Execute complex assignments under minimal supervision.
  • Visually portray complex design features.
  • Successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Prioritize work tasks to meet scheduled delivery dates.
  • Self-motivated with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.



What You'll Do



  • Apply current, standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to complete engineering tasks.
  • Perform construction observation duties on assigned projects.
  • Maintain records, construction quantities, checklists, daily reports, and documentation for construction administration projects in accordance with municipality requirements.
  • Perform work within both office and field settings.
  • Coordinate on-site materials testing.
  • Develop plans, specifications, and observation reports that are complete, accurate, and in accordance with sound engineering practices.
  • Recommend alterations to development criteria and design features to improve quality.
  • Work closely with and guide engineering technicians and design engineers.
  • Check design computations performed by the internal civil design team when appropriate.
  • Prepare reports and correspondence concerning the direction of assigned projects.
  • Review plans and specifications for constructability, safety, and risk management considerations.
  • Maintain a value engineering mindset throughout development, design, and construction.
  • Work closely with business and engineering staff across multiple offices and technical disciplines.
  • Attend meetings with clients and assist with client relationships, business development, and proposal development.



What We Expect from You



  • B.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent is required.
  • Civil Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is required. State of licensure preferred in North Dakota or can be obtained within three months.
  • Minimum of 4 years of civil engineering experience.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, planning and mentoring skills.
  • Experience in CAD Software Applications such as C3D or Bentley MicroStation preferred.
  • Experience creating Horizontal and Vertical Alignments, Signing and Pavement Marking, SWPPP, TCP, and Typical Sections.
  • Working knowledge of NDDOT Standards and Specifications.
  • Have performed summary calculations and cost estimates.
  • Experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Must have authorization to work permanently in the U.S.

Additional Opportunity Details:
Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $91,000 - $123,000
* Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your job specific skills, education, training, job location, number of years of experience related to this role and comparison to other employees already in this role
