JOB SUMMARY
Works under general supervision to provide skilled mechanical work installing, maintaining, and repairing heating cooling equipment in assigned university buildings on one of three work shifts.
Work Location: Dallas Campus; assist other UTSW buildings as needed.
Shift Requirement:
Flexibility to work Sunday through Saturday 7:30 Am to 4:00 PM. Training schedule will be Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. After completing training, your full-time work schedule may include a Saturday or Sunday workday.

1 year pf experience in operation and maintenance of large (25,000 cfm) air handling equipment, steam pressure reducing stations, heating and chilled water systems and pumps and Must be a self-starter and have good communication skills.

Job Duties
- Operates and monitors equipment, which admits steam into each building from central distribution point, pressure reducing stations, ensuring that steam is admitted into pipes at proper rate, and auxiliary equipment.
- Inspects and adjusts air handlers, pumps, steam valves, electrical and pneumatic control systems, etc.
- Makes minor and major adjustments and repairs and performs preventative maintenance work such as repairing water and steam valves, cleaning and greasing machinery and making minor electrical and/or other repairs to water, gas, and steam pipes, and other equipment.
- Makes regular patrols through mechanical rooms to record condition and operation of equipment to ensure its being scheduled into preventative program before failure.
- Performs minor welding, brazing, and cutting, using acetylene or arc welder.
- Troubleshoots, repairs and replaces general and laboratory exhaust fan systems.
- Inspects, dismantles, repairs, and reassembles equipment as directed. Completes tests for chemical control of boiler water, cooling water, and steam condensate.
- Provides working supervision to Maintenance Workers assigned to same shift, making work assignments, providing work instructions, and checking completed work.
- Performs other duties as assigned
