Purpose of Job

This casual position is responsible for providing diagnostic, evaluative, treatment, educational and follow-up services to clients with speech, language and swallowing problems of functional or organic etiologies.

Job Functions


  1. Assesses speech, language and swallowing impairments.
  2. Establishes appropriate care plans and provides treatment interventions based on assessment findings.
  3. Provides thorough documentation of patient interventions based on standards of practice for Speech/Language Pathologists and policies and procedures of RMC and Rehab Specialties and Home Care.
  4. Communicates with appropriate persons (i.e. physicians, nurses, other health care professionals, staff, and insurance providers) to ensure that patient needs are addressed.
  5. Assists Clinic Services Assistant to assure that patient interventions are properly scheduled and billed for.
  6. Organizes treatment environment, tools, supplies, documentation, resources and procedures to maximize treatment effectiveness and efficiency.
  7. Provides professional and courteous customer service to internal and external customer.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Work Experience


  • Master's degree in Speech/Language Pathology

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities


  • Ability to work independently and organize tasks
  • Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions
  • Ability to exhibit flexibility, self-control and maturity in work and behavior
  • Ability to promote Rehab Specialties services
  • Ability to change work locations with or without prior notification in order to meet customer needs
  • Ability to serve patients in a friendly and efficient manner
  • Knowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations
  • Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above

License/Certifications


  • Valid State of Minnesota registration as a Speech/ Language Pathologist
  • Valid Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by ASHA
  • CPR Certificate
