BASIC PURPOSE:

Develops and implements enterprise-wide risk measurement tools, testing plan, and processes to identify and assess enterprise wide inherent and residual risks and controls. Integrate control testing results into the enterprise-wide risk assessments conducted in ERM.

The role will interact extensively with business units, and management throughout the Bank. Position evaluates the adequacy of risks and controls and effectiveness of the controls to determine residual risk. Testing will involve operational, compliance to policy, regulatory, and SOX controls.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Conducts comprehensive risk assessments across the organization, including operational, financial, strategic, reputational, and compliance risks.
  • Conduct control assurance / effectiveness testing and related activities to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of the Bank's control environment.
  • Utilize various methodologies to identify potential risks, such as interviews, data analysis, and process reviews.
  • Analyze the likelihood and potential impact of identified risks to prioritize them.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate work papers that use sufficient evidence to document and support the results of control assurance activities. Prepare detailed reports on risk assessments, control evaluations, and mitigation strategies for management.
  • Identify any control failures or weaknesses and recommend improvements to strengthen control effectiveness.
  • Monitor changes in regulatory landscape and update risk assessments and risk and control inventory, accordingly.
  • Communicate key risk insights and concerns to ERM team and to relevant stakeholders.
  • For control failures, develop risk mitigation plans in collaboration with business owners, including preventive, detective, and corrective actions as appropriate, and monitor the implementation and effectiveness of mitigation plans.
  • Maintain and update the Bank's risk and control library within the Bank's application.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in Excel, including how to create macros / formulas / etc.
  • Strong writing skills
  • Audit and / or compliance knowledge / experience
  • Strong understanding of enterprise risk management frameworks, compliance and/or internal audit is preferred.
  • Current working knowledge of compliance risk management and testing experience and/or auditing standards and experience.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organization and project management skills and able to work independently.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks.
  • Ability to build working relationships with individuals at all levels across the organization.
  • Strong communication, writing and presentation skills. Able to communicate analytical insights in a simple, concise manner, and to build strong relationships with various business units to effectively convert insights into action.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills to work in a team environment and to influence and interface with a broad range of stakeholders at all levels, both internal and external.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, risk management or related field.
  • Two plus years of compliance risk management experience or internal audit experience.
  • Two plus years of design and operating testing experience, and familiarity with testing methodologies.
  • Two plus years of experience working with GRC platforms desirable.

WORK LOCATION: Onsite with an opportunity to work remote partially. This position may not be filled in California, either in-person or remotely.
