Clearance- Utility Plant Operator

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Utility Plant Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of all utility plant equipment, building management systems, and associated auxiliary equipment. This position requires a strong background in commercial building maintenance and excellent technical skills.

Security Clearance:

This position requires a government security clearance. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and have either an active Secret Clearance or have held a Secret Clearance in the recent past. Candidates without prior clearance experience or unable to obtain a clearance will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate and maintain all utility plant equipment, including high-temperature hot water generators, centrifugal chillers, air compressors, cooling towers, and HVAC equipment.

Monitor and control the building management system, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.

Perform routine maintenance tasks, including preventive and predictive maintenance, repairs, and modifications to equipment and systems.

Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and controls issues, using a variety of hand tools, multi-meters, and other equipment.

Record, review, and interpret equipment and system readings, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.

Collaborate with other team members to ensure seamless operations and maintain a positive, team-oriented work environment.

Training and Scheduling:

The successful candidate will initially be assigned to 1st shift (7:30 am - 4:00 pm) for approximately 5 months for training purposes. Following training, the candidate will be transferred to a fixed schedule, which may include 2nd shift (3:30 pm - 12:00 am) or 3rd shift (11:30 pm - 8:00 am). Weekend work, overtime, and shift coverage may be required as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

2 years of HVAC trade school or equivalent certification.

High school degree or equivalency.

Valid driver's license.

Minimum 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance.

EPA CFC Universal certification.

Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications.

Proficiency in hand and power tools.

Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and controls issues.

Familiarity with building management systems, computerized alarm and control systems, and general computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel).

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Self-motivated, dependable, and positive attitude.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment with minimal supervision.

Ability to work from aerial lift platforms and ladders.

Ability to lift 30 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.
