Job Description Summary
The Coordinator for Student and Multicultural Engagement works closely with the Director for Student Involvement and Multicultural Initiatives to design, develop, implement and assess services and programs offered to students of color at Lewis University and the broader campus community to promote student learning and success.

In accordance with the Mission and Strategic Plan of the University, the Coordinator for Student and Multicultural Engagement assures the delivery of student centered programs and support as a part of a high quality educational experience. The Coordinator for Student and Multicultural Engagement reports directly to the Director for Student Involvement and Multicultural Initiatives.

Responsibilities
Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration, and active support of the University's Mission in Catholic and Lasallian higher education.

-Develop and execute monthly co-curricular multicultural programming that targets the success of Lewis University students of color.
-Advise and coordinate the activities of the Black Student Union, the Gender Sexuality Association, Muslim Student Association, Lewis Latin Dance, Arab American Association, Filipino American Association, Asian American Association and Justice for Palestine in the fall and spring semesters annually.
-Plan and facilitate monthly organizational leadership meetings.
-Support and serve as an advocate for the needs and concerns of students of color through campus education on issues of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, social economic status and religion and make appropriate referrals.
-Plan and execute the Si Se Puede Education Conference for Latinx high school students and parents annually including chairing of the planning committee, developing conference workshops, securing speakers, designing registration flyer and all conference web communications, facilitating the student panel, securing catering and technical requirements.
-Assist the department director in planning and executing large-scale co-curricular campus events and programming including but not limited to: Monthly Student Engagement Activities/Events, Welcome Days, Student Orientation and Registration ( SOAR), Family Day, I Love Lewis Week, Campus Days and Stress Relief Week.
-Manage the daily RSO purchasing operations for the department including the organization of daily RSO supply requests, planning of weekly store purchase schedules, communicating supply pickups with RSO's and placing Amazon and other requisitions as needed.
-Assist in campus wide programs and services that promote and celebrate multicultural heritage and history.
-Plan LU's annual Unity Ball event including chairing the planning committee, researching and secure a venue, developing event agenda, planning awards ceremony, designing all event communications, securing catering and technical requirements.
-Review and assess departmental programs and services.
-Assist in formulating and administering multicultural engagement policies and procedures.
-Prepare reports and proposals as requested.
-Collaborate with the campus community and serve on University committees as assigned.
-Required to work some nights, weekends and a flexible work schedule as needed
-Perform other duties as deemed necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required. At least 1 year of experience with program development, student advising and/or the coordination of educational programming for historically underrepresented students. Must possess strong computer and organizational skills. Must be a student centered professional who understands the importance of inclusivity on a college campus and, who demonstrates sensitivity and advocacy for students from diverse backgrounds and/or identities. *Must be an innovative and resourceful professional with strong verbal and written communication skills and possess the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to promote underserved student success. Must be available to work weekend and evening events and possess a valid Illinois driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred degrees in education, educational leadership, counseling, student personnel, or other related fields. Prior work experience in a college or university setting.
