DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

Join the Residential, Retail and Supply Chain Services (RRSS) team at UC San Diego, a dynamic and innovative campus department dedicated to delivering exceptional service to the university community. As a valued RRSS team member, you will be contributing to a broad and complex organization consisting of five key units: Housing, Dining and Hospitality (HDH), Integrated Procure-to-Pay Solutions (IPPS), the UC San Diego Bookstore, Triton Print & Digital Media, and the Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC). With a focus on innovation and customer satisfaction, RRSS aims to inclusively meet the diverse needs of the UC San Diego community while fostering a sense of belonging for our students and staff.

As a member of the HDH team, you will be part of a self-funded unit with over 900 staff employees, 1,000 student employees, and an annual operating budget of $250 million, providing housing and dining services to over 20,000 students, faculty, staff, and their families. POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Program and Community Development Coordinator provides direct support to the community development, programming, student conduct, and assessment initiatives supporting the 6,000 members of the Graduate and Family Housing communities. This position guides educational and social programming initiatives through supervision of student staff, assists with assessment initiatives, and oversees community development projects. This position also serves as a student conduct officer, working independently to provide information and interpretation of defined policies, procedures and regulations. The Program and Community Development Manager guides this position and collaborates on complex issues and / or program(s). This position has an important role in identifying individual student needs for programs and services and advises on appropriate programs and resources to meet those needs for Graduate and Family Housing. Incumbent will provide lead direction to student Community Assistant and Community Liaison positions. This position does not serve in an after-hours on call or duty program. Attendance at quarterly after-hours events and trainings are required.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Basic knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. And proven ability to apply this knowledge when working with students.

  • Knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs. Experience with software applications including, but not limited to, MS Office Suite and MS Outlook.

  • Knowledge of University processes and procedures. Demonstrated understanding of the developmental and educational context in which the student conduct process is administered and managed.

  • Understanding of University rules and regulations. Working knowledge of federal and state regulations related to student conduct, including FERPA and Clery Act.

  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, group and cross-cultural communication and leadership skills. Skill in leading, and promoting leadership within diverse populations, particularly students. Skill in public speaking and presentations. Ability to lead and facilitate effective group activities.

  • Skills in service orientation, active listening, critical thinking. Ability to act independently, demonstrate sound leadership, and apply critical thinking to decision making.

  • Abilities in problem identification, reasoning. Demonstrated effective problem-solving skills to guide student programming initiatives.

  • Ability to multi-task, verbal communication, written communication and organization skills. Proven organizational skills, ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $53,800 - $91,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $25.77 - $43.58

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
