A "Sanctions Engineering Lead" isa technical role responsible for designing, developing, and implementing technology solutions to mitigate sanctions risks within a company, working closely with compliance teams to ensure systems effectively screen transactions against relevant sanctions regulations, often requiring expertise in data analysis, system integration, and staying updated on evolving sanctions laws and regulations;essentially leading the engineering efforts to build and maintain robust sanctions compliance systems.We are an innovative team building best in class controls.
Key responsibilities may include:
- System Design and Development: Architecting and overseeing the development of sanctions screening tools, integrating them with existing systems, and ensuring accuracy of data matching algorithms.
- Compliance Oversight: Collaborating with compliance teams to identify sanctions risks, translate regulatory requirements into technical specifications, and implement necessary controls within the systems.
- Data Management: Managing and maintaining sanctions watchlists, ensuring data quality and accuracy for effective screening.
- Alert Review and Investigation: Developing processes to review and investigate potential sanctions hits, escalating issues to relevant stakeholders when necessary.
- Stakeholder Management: Working with cross-functional teams across product, operations, and compliance to ensure smooth integration of sanctions controls within existing workflows.
- Technology Evaluation and Selection: Researching and evaluating new sanctions screening technologies, vendors, and solutions to enhance compliance capabilities.
- Regulatory Monitoring: Staying abreast of changes in sanctions regulations (e.g., OFAC, EU sanctions) and updating systems accordingly.
HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL
As a member of our team, you will:
- Partner globally with sponsors,usersand engineering colleagues across multiple divisions to plan and execute engineering projects and drive our product roadmaps,
- Have responsibility for managing and leadinga team of 10-20junior and seniorsoftware developers across 1-3global locations.
- Be instrumental in implementing processes and procedures in order to maximize the quality and efficiency of the team.
- Manage significant projects and be involved inthe full life cycle; scoping,designing, implementing, testing, deploying, and maintaining software systems acrossour products.
- Leverage varioustechnologies including; Java,Spark,Hadoop, Flink, MapReduce, HBase, JSON, Protobuf, Presto, Elastic Search, Kafka, Kubernetes.
- Be able to innovate and incubate new ideas.
A successful candidate will possess the followingattributes:
- Bachelor's or Master's degreein Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar field of study.
- 7+ years experience in software development includingmanagement experience.
- Previous sanctions experience is preferred.
- Experience in developing and designingend-to-end solutions toenterprise standardsincluding automated testingand SDLC.
- The ability (and tenacity) to clearly express ideas and arguments in meetings and on paper.
- Knowledge of financial industry is desirable but not essential.
Salary Range The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $150000-$250000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
