Description:

Employees at this level of the series supervise the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) program. They direct, coordinate, and evaluate the work of MRI staff. They also initiate or assist in the collection of imaging data and maintain department accreditation and compliance related to imaging services

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates the department's technical operations and MRI patient care activities.
  • Schedules and supervises MRI staff.
  • Participates in personnel actions such as hiring, transfers, discipline, and promotions.
  • Manages in-service training programs and keeps abreast of new procedures and equipment; assists with the coordination of continuing education to meet the requirements set forth by governmental and other regulatory agencies
  • Participates in operating and capital budget preparation and equipment acquisition
  • Performs administrative duties including developing and updating Imaging department policy, procedures and protocols
  • Responsible for quality control of images for the department; designs and conducts the quality improvement program for Imaging
  • Prepares and maintains documentation necessary to meet state annual inspection criteria for equipment and personnel as well as accreditation.
  • Plans the objectives of MRI program including MRI safety and ensures compliance with ACR guidelines.
  • Manages the clinical content of the Imaging documentation in the electronic medical record
  • Monitors and troubleshoots all MRI equipment service needs.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications Required:

  1. High school graduate or equivalent.
  2. Current/Valid registration or certification in MRI by either the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT).
  3. Four (4) years (48 months) of progressively more responsible work experience in MRI including at least two (2) years (24 months) comparable to the lower level of this series.


Note: A Bachelor's Degree in healthcare, general science or closely related field may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of general experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 8 HR shifts, 5 days/week (Mon-Fri) and weekends as needed (flex days/nights)/40 hours per week
  • Current (AHA) BLS/CPR certification required by department
