Overall Function: Under supervision and in accordance with approved social case work principles, practices, treatment, problem solving techniques, and consistent with the community support program principles and practices:
Education, Experience and Knowledge Required: Possession of a master’s or bachelor's degree from an approved college or university, a major in a behavioral science or a related field with 1,000 hours of supervised post-degree clinical experience with severe and persistent mentally ill persons, or a bachelor’s degree in a field other than behavioral science with 2,000 hours of supervised post degree clinical experience with persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses. Must have at least a Substance Abuse Counseling In-Training certificate (SAC-It.) A. Knowledge of federal, state and local laws and programs relating to social services of the target population B. Knowledge of community resources and services available to target population C. Knowledge of theories, practices and techniques in the diagnosis and treatment of severe and persistently mentally ill persons and family social problems
D. Skill in working with persons who are severe and persistently mentally ill but whose behavior is under control due to clients’ willingness to follow prescribed medication schedule E. Ability to recognize signs of determination in clients’ behavior and skills in decision making in the best interest of the client, family and community F. Ability to conduct social service investigations, assessments and case management interviews G. Knowledge of and skill in the application of quality assurance principles and techniques, familiarity with licensing, certification, confidentiality and service delivery requirements of programs provided at Milwaukee Mental Health Associates, Inc. H. Familiarity with specialized community services I. Ability to express oneself effectively both oral and in writing J. Knowledge of legal procedures, attitudes and other legal documents K. Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with agency personnel, clients, social services, law enforcement agencies, attorneys, the courts and the public.
