The Office of Case Management serves as a primary point of contact for faculty, staff, and students to express concerns regarding students who exhibit symptoms associated with distress and/or risk. The office is responsible for addressing the health and safety of students on campus. The position is directly responsible for providing office leadership, collecting and assessing critical information, identifying and supporting student needs, crisis intervention and de-escalation, referring for campus or community services, and supervision of case management staff.

Assistant Director of Case Management

What you will do:




  • This position will Co-Chair the CARE team with the Director of Case Management/Associate Dean of Students



  • This position will supervise, evaluate and train 2-4 Case Managers



  • Provide immediate support and backup for the Director of Case Management/Associate Dean of Students in daily functions.



  • The Assistant Director will work with the Director of Case Management/Associate Dean of Students in ongoing strategic planning for the Office of Case Management.



  • This position provides assessment and support to students who are exhibiting symptoms of distress through a variety of interventions, referrals, and follow-up services.



  • The position is responsible for crisis intervention, coordinating and communicating with medical and behavioral health hospitals, as well as staff, parents, families, or designated emergency contacts regarding student health and safety emergencies.



  • This position manages high-risk cases, implementing best practices to increase safety and decrease presence of risk, including performing safety assessments, safety planning, and engaging in threat assessment and management.



  • This position is responsible for managing the campus medical withdrawal process, which includes supervision of a Graduate Assistant.



  • This position is responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of the Lynx Prevention Education Program, including the Student Fee Review Committee (SFRC) proposal process and supervision of a Graduate Assistant.



  • With guidance from the Director of Case Managment/Associate Dean of Students, this position will support the administrative needs of any current grants to ensure adherence to grant requirements



  • Responsibilities also include collaboration and consultation with academic units and campus partners, including but not limited to CU Denver Housing and Dining, Student and Community Counseling Center, Office of Equity, Auraria Campus Police Department, other student services on campus, healthcare providers, and families.



  • This position participates in campus-wide education and other programming efforts which may include evening or weekend events.




Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)




  • A bachelor's degree in education, psychology, health sciences, higher education, counseling, human services, student affairs, social work, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.



  • Experience with crisis management and assessing/supporting mental health


  • Four (4) years of related professional experience, including at least one (1) year of experience working in Higher Education or in a mental health setting.


Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)




  • Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Student Development, Higher Education, or related field.



  • Two (2) years of related professional experience, including at least one (1) year of experience working in Higher Education or in a mental health setting.



  • Training/certification in any of the following: NABITA Risk Rubric, WAVR-21, SIVRA-35 or experience utilizing risk rubrics for risk/threat assessment.

Conditions of Employment




  • Occasional work during the evening and/or weekends may be required.



  • This position follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences. Working from the office is encouraged when working on tasks that require a high degree of collaboration.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $66,207 - $73,176

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
