ualr.edu/printingservices/ Summary of Job Duties:The Senior Accountant is a part of the Printing Services team and works under the general supervision of the Director of Printing Services. The Senior Accountant is responsible for the proper recording and reconciliation of invoices, transactions, and accounts. This is a key position in the Printing Services area as it is responsible for the accurate invoicing of customers, collection of outstanding balances, and the reporting of the department's financial results to the VCFA. It requires a willingness to work within the department and across departmental lines in order to solve problems. This position is governed by state and federal laws, university policies, and generally accepted accounting principles. Qualifications:

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or other business major;
  • At least two years of experience in accounting or a related field, including general ledger transaction and account reconciliation experience.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creation and distribution of all customer invoices;
  • Work with ITS, and other Financial Services personnel, to ensure the highest level of efficiency possible relative to the invoicing process;
  • Collection of outstanding balances due from customers;
  • Reconciliation of all customer account balances to ensure accuracy of balances;
  • Perform periodic reviews of pricing to ensure that we are charging a competitive rate and, in all cases, covering the costs of our raw materials:
  • Assist department personnel with tasks in Workday periodically;
  • Research, prepare, and input any journal vouchers necessary;
  • Prepare various financial reports, as required by the VCFA or other Financial Services employees;
  • Ensure that departmental financial activity is properly recorded;
  • Assist other Financial Services personnel with special projects, as required;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting, particularly as they relate to sound financial management in higher education;
  • Knowledge of accounting information technology and its application;
  • Ability and desire to work in a collaborative environment and be innovative and creative in the development of accounting procedures;
  • Ability to analyze and reconcile complex financial information and communicate recommended action to correct deficiencies;
  • Ability to teach UA Little Rock's computerized financial management system to a wide variety of users;
  • Ability to participate in or lead a workgroup;
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, track, and complete assigned tasks;
  • Ability to stay current on changes in accounting for higher education;
  • Ability to write documentation of applications and findings so a reasonably informed accountant, auditor, or accounting technician can follow without verbal explanation;
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office, including Access, in a large and complex accounting system;
  • Skilled in interpersonal skills using both written and verbal communications;
  • Skilled in interacting with a variety of people.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, procedures, and theories of accounting;
  • Knowledge of auditing principles, practices, and procedures;
  • Knowledge of state and federal legislative processes and procedures;
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, and policies;
  • Ability to act independently and promptly to situations and events;
  • Ability to recognize critical events, develop and evaluate data, determine solutions, and make recommendations;
  • Ability to prepare written and oral communications and reports;
  • Demonstrated commitment to high professional, and ethical standards;
  • Ability to establish a good rapport and cultivate effective working relationships with administration, faculty, and staff;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, organizational and prioritization skills with an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
