Kratos Defense & Rocket Support Services is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support various vehicle development programs. Kratos is known for performing launch vehicle flight services for the US military, NASA, and foreign allies worldwide. All efforts are managed iend-to-end and include mission planning, design, analysis, manufacturing, testing, and launch operations in an agile environment. The Mechanical Engineer will apply appropriate engineering disciplines to support design, development, implementation, and testing of mechanical systems, subsystems, and components while also supporting reviews and documentation necessary for internal and external customers. This documentation can include, but is not limited to: specifications, drawing input, test plans, test procedures, test reports, analysis reports, and design reviews. The selected candidate will support test programs and analyze the test setup against flight requirements.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Design and analyze launch vehicle mechanical systems and components.
  • Applies various types of mechanical engineering disciplines in support of design, development, implementation, and testing of mechanical,
  • Prepares appropriate documentation for reviews or other purposes, including but not limited to: specifications, drawing input, test plans & procedures, test and analysis reports, and design reviews
  • Support test programs and analyze the test setup against flight requirements



PRIMARY i



  • Design launch vehicle components and structures given specified flight loads.
  • Generate engineering drawings and flight vehicle renderings of mission specific configurations for use in engineering reports and presentations.
  • Analyze launch vehicle components and structures using FEA methods.
  • Determine margins of safety for launch vehicle components and structures for specified Factors of Safety.


SECONDARY i



  • Generate test plans and test reports for structural load and deployment testing of flight structures, separation systems and fin structures.
  • Support mechanical testing of flight vehicle structures and mechanisms.

Required Experience:

JOB SKILLS:

Required -



  • Experience in structural analysis using FEA and hand calculations.
  • Must be versatile with CAD.
  • Must be able to obtain and manintain a DoD Security Clearance
  • US Citizenship is required


Preferred -



  • Experience with the design & analysis and testing of aerospace structures.



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • B.S. Engineering Degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience



Some travel is anticipated.
