The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has an opening for a Marketing Research Analyst, responsible for preparing effective marketing materials, analyzing market data/trends and identifying advertising revenue opportunities. This position requires integration of ideas and numbers with creative problem solving, working with a portfolio of products in a fast-paced environment.

Our successful candidate will work closely with advertising sales personnel in the development of presentations and strategy. Specialized quantitative research capabilities and the ability to write technical sales collateral are essential, as are strong written and verbal skills in order to convey research findings with clarity.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with sales executives to accurately and quickly develop creative, effective sales presentations using primary and secondary data to support AJC products, including print, digital and direct marketing
  • Serve as a marketing research consultant to account executives to help build market share and strategy with accounts
  • Manage execution of competitive media training and strategic plan for identifying market opportunities in addition to providing competitive media reports to account executives and sales management on request.
  • Perform in-depth analysis of client customer files in order to provide data-driven media recommendations and insight into customer composition.
  • Track, update and distribute economic and retail trend reports on a monthly and quarterly basis
  • Collaborate with b2b marketing team to provide research information, ensure accuracy and edit collateral and b2b website
  • Participate in and present at account planning meetings when requested, and team meetings on a regular basis.
  • Provide updated account and industry overviews for client meetings as requested
  • Maintain a highly organized workflow process with a focus on deadline management, client communication and long-term strategy.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 2 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and up to 2 years' experience; or 6 years' experience in a related field with no Bachelor's degree.
  • Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience in analyzing primary and secondary data
  • Knowledge of media buying, planning or media sales a plus
  • Experience with Scarborough's software or other cross tabulation software is preferred
  • Ability to quickly learn other software packages

Compensation:

Compensation includes a base salary of $58,400.00 - $87,600.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Benefits:

The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members.
