Mechanical Engineering Intern - Summer 2025

Our Movable Bridge Group is looking to hire a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2025, with possibility of starting in Spring 2025. The intention would be to work 20-40 hours per week during Summer 2025.
Please note, HDR does not provide relocation or housing assistance for Intern positions.
Responsibilities will include:

  • 2D CAD work
  • Calculations
  • Field visits to movable bridges
  • Offer real-world experience on exciting projects
  • Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs
  • Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures
  • Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager
  • Perform other duties as needed


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefer 3 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
  • Interest in extracurricular activities that are hands-on (SAE, Human Powered Vehicle, Robotics, Machine Shop, working on cards, etc.)
  • Preference given to local candidates

Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
  • Attention to detail
  • Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
