Job Description

Want to conduct innovative research to promote recovery after sexual violence? Want to help resolve health disparities by understanding how seeking treatment after trauma may be different for women from different backgrounds? The REAL study of the University of Missouri-Kansas City Sexual Violence Prevention Laboratory (UMKC SVP Lab) is excited to announce we are hiring a Sr. Project Coordinator supported by a recently acquired five-year grant.

The REAL study is one of the largest (600 women) and most diverse longitudinal study of sexual violence survivors. The Sr. Project Coordinator for the REAL study at the School of Nursing and Health Studies at UMKC will combine the ability to function independently and work collaboratively within a diverse interdisciplinary team to help better understand recovery after sexual violence. We hope the study's findings will change the way healthcare providers work with women and reduce how often sexual violence occurs.

The Sr. Project Coordinator will facilitate research processes and research product development to ensure the REAL study achieves its aims, vision, and plans to meet the needs of the study research staff, funders, and participants. The Sr. Project Coordinator will also provide leadership and management of this moderate to high complexity project.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide leadership in managing study activities including managing a team of 10+ interviewer/data collection staff
  • Lead planning, development, monitoring and related activities for all regulatory products and processes (institutional review board, funder progress reports, et cetera)
  • Work in concert with the study PI (Principal Investigator: RaeAnn E. Anderson, PhD) and co-PI (Jocelyn Anderson, PhD, SANE) to design, monitor, and implement study data collection protocols at three sites
  • Monitoring quality assurance procedures for interviews and tracking other data quality control measures
  • Work in concert with study PI to manage the REAL budget and prepare grant applications
  • Write and edit scientific materials for distribution to peer-reviewed empirical journals as well as lay public audiences
  • Assist with managing day to day study operations including: monitoring recruitment, purchasing recruitment ads, and tracking the success of various recruitment strategies
Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired
Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences or a related field
  • One year of experience working in research
  • Demonstrated success in managing projects (research or otherwise) similar in scope and size

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Comfort and willingness to discuss sexual violence in a scientific and clinical setting
  • Demonstrated capacity to participate in interdisciplinary work groups while also working independently on specific tasks
  • Organization and ability to maintain orderly records including those with regulatory body requirements and/or guidelines
  • Strategic thinking and analytical ability
  • Independent problem-solving skills including identifying and recommending solutions
  • Flexibility and openness mindedness to think creatively
  • Good judgment to support interactions with distressed participants and/or staff
  • Ability to work on multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals with diverse cultural and educational backgrounds
  • Proficiently in Microsoft office and related technologies (Zoom, Adobe, Qualtrics, basic SPSS)
  • Willingness to learn new research technologies such as REDCap
Anticipated Hiring Range

Full-time, benefit eligible, exempt position with an anticipated hiring range of $51,875 to $60,000 per year commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity. This position is 100% externally grant funded through August 2029. Continuation of salary for the position after 2029 is dependent upon successful external funding awarded for the position.

  • Our team follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks. Working from the office will be required, as needed, for tasks that require a high degree of collaboration. This position does require a candidate that can provide some availability for night and weekend hours as needed to support the external community programs.
  • Local, regional, and national travel estimated at 5-10% (for example, attending in-person key personnel meeting once per year at the International Association of Forensic Nurses Conference)
  • Exposure to occasional stories of sexual violence as relayed by participants.
