We are looking for an Automation Engineer to drive productivity and performance to the next level. As a Trex Automation Engineer, you'll be responsible for identifying opportunities, developing concepts, and implementing automation projects in a growing manufacturing organization. As a key member of Advanced Manufacturing, the Automation Engineer will work with all facets of the organization to deliver projects that are production ready.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Lead cross-functional teams to drive process improvement through:

    • Identification of automation project and process opportunities
    • Research of concepts
    • Vetting of vendors and strategies
    • Leading projects through the completion of commissioning
    • Ensuring a successful transition through development, documentation, and communication of procedures, maintenance requirements, and troubleshooting techniques


  • Coordinate with internal resources and external vendors to develop custom machine designs and incorporate them into existing process and controls scenarios.
  • Develop key deliverable criteria, budgets, and timelines based on project requirements.
  • Ensure buy-in from key stakeholders during the development and implementation process.
  • Develop, perform, and document site acceptance testing of externally sourced equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform complex systems tests.
  • Manage prioritization of activities to meet multiple project timeline requirements.
  • Collaborate with controls engineers to integrate AI/ML models into PLCs, SCADA systems, and automation workflows.



Direct Reports: 1-2 technicians and up to 10 external vendors and contractors.

Travel: Some domestic travel on an annual basis can be expected for this opportunity.

EXPERIENCE

Required:




  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline.



  • Five or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment.



  • Demonstrated ability to work in a close-knit team environment.



  • Project management experience from concept through commissioning required.



  • Working knowledge of problem-solving techniques required.




Preferred:



  • 3-5 years emphasis on end of line packaging and automation strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of controls is preferred.



BASE SALARY RANGE: $95,000-$130,000 annually

The salary range provided serves as a general guideline for potential compensation for this position. It reflects the base salary and does not account for other benefits or additional compensation opportunities that may apply. This role is also eligible for further compensation through an annual/sales bonus, in addition to the base salary.

At Trex, individual base salaries are determined based on various factors, including relevant skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location.
