As the Medical Outcomes Value Liaison you will lead the medical interface with key access customers in a field-facing role.

Responsibilities:

Identifies and communicates scientific, clinical, health outcomes and pharmacoeconomic research information that meet the needs of population health decision makers:

  • Proactively engages with external scientific experts and health care access decision makers, influencers, executives and designates (e.g., pharmacy, medical, quality, value assessment, etc.) to provide clinical and health outcome-based information for all portfolio and pipeline products to inform access and reimbursement decisions.
  • Reactively responds to unsolicited requests for medical information from Market Access personnel in a timely manner and subsequently engages in scientific exchange with payor audiences as appropriate to address inquiries.
  • Communicates and disseminates scientific and health economics information to national and regional payor audiences, including pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), specialty pharmacy providers (SPPs) and accountable care organizations (ACOs) leveraging their scientific expertise, experience, and knowledge of managed care to achieve desired access goals.
  • Delivers current disease state literature, tailored scientific and pharmacoeconomic data, health policy changes and trends, new data on company products and competitors, and methodologies for generating health economics and real-world evidence.
  • Provides comprehensive, accurate, fair balanced, objective, and scientifically rigorous product and disease state information, health outcomes and real-world evidence to payor audiences both in person and virtually.

Anticipates and capitalizes on opportunities with existing and new health outcomes thought leaders:

  • Cultivates relationships with identified payer opinion leaders and payer influencers in practice and/or academia to discuss therapeutic areas important to Ferring.
  • Maintains relationships with external experts and thought leaders to ensure up to date awareness and education in health economics and quality of life research.
  • Provides input into the development and implementation of disease management education programs and tools for use with customers.
  • Develops enduring partnerships with internal colleagues and customer decision-makers, scientific experts, and key influencers.
  • Brings value to customers by leveraging the expertise of colleagues, when relevant, to discussions and responses to customer requests.
  • Collaborates with payers and payer thought leaders on HEOR studies to generate new data for Ferring products.

Delivers on the strategic and tactical direction of Ferring's MOVL Department:

  • Executes medical national regional account strategies and action plans for Ferring's portfolio and pipeline.
  • Collaborates closely with the MSLs to meet the mutual scientific, clinical, therapeutic area and Ferring product informational needs of health care access decision makers.
  • Engages in strong cross-functional teamwork with field-based and home office-based medical and commercial colleagues to meet customer needs with the highest levels of quality and customer-focused support.
  • Gathers input and shares insights to help inform Medical and Market Access decision making.

Partners with cross functional teams to ensure alignment and support for a payor engagement plan to address access through scientific, clinical, health outcomes and pharmacoeconomic objectives of decision makers:

  • Maintains knowledge of the most current disease state literature, health policy changes/trends, and methodologies for generating health economics and real-world evidence.
  • Attends select scientific meetings and professional conferences for continuing education and scientific exchange with value-based decision makers.
  • Breaks down barriers to accelerate the delivery and dissemination of information.
  • Acts as a cross-functional scientific communicator and collaborator to assess outcomes, messaging and quality improvement plans.
  • Participates in medical and payer advisory boards and liaises with payers to generate ideas for expanded reimbursement of existing products/devices, and scientific communication of medical value of current products.
  • Assists with development and execution of payor resources for field use.

Requirements:

  • Doctoral level degree, e.g. PharmD, PhD or MD required
  • Concentration in health economics, outcomes research, epidemiology, statistics, public health, public policy or a related academic discipline preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience, HEOR, Medical Affairs, Managed Markets, Health Plan, Pharmacy Benefit preferred.
  • Prior experience in customer-facing roles preferred.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent analytic skills.
  • Ability to travel (up to 60%).
  • Excellent oral and written communication as well as interpersonal and team-building skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, proactive outlook, and the ability to follow assignments through to completion
  • Adept at relating to all levels in a complex organization.

Our Compensation and Benefits

At Ferring, base salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is $136,850.00 to $195,500.00, which is the reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount paid may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, education and primary work location. Additional compensation for this role will be provided based on competitive annual incentive compensation targets in the form of an annual bonus - payouts are based on individual and company performance.

Benefits for this role include: comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with a premium differential, inverse to base salary, to be paid by employees; a 401k plan and company match; short and long-term disability coverage; basic life insurance; wellness benefits; reimbursement for certain tuition expenses; sick time frontloaded yearly of 40 hours, or higher if state or local law requires; vacation time for full time employees to accrue between 112.5 and 150 hours yearly in the first four (4) years of employment, and additional accruals starting in the fifth (5th) year of employment; and 12 to 13 paid holidays per year. For roles that are not field-based, Ferring has a policy that allows employees to work up to two days from home and three at a Ferring site, weekly.
