Licenses and Certifications:



  • Current StarGuard Elite Certification or American Red Cross Certification.


Preferred / Desirable Qualifications:



  • Basic knowledge of computers for registration/data input.
  • Water rescue and lifesaving skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and written.
  • Customer service excellence principles.

The purpose of this position is to provide excellent customer service to all pool patrons by exemplifying a positive attitude and exceeding the needs of patrons.

This position handles financial transactions, registrations, refunds, data entry, balances daily cash reports, tests pool chemicals and ensures a fun and safe environment for all patrons. The Lifeguard I position is the entry level position in the Aquatics - Recreation series of employment. This position is the first point of contact for all patrons entering the pools and is expected to greet everyone as they arrive. The Lifeguard I serves as a pool cashier and lifeguard during open swim and swim lesson hours.

Essential Functions:



  1. Greets all patrons arriving at facility. Answers inquiries for Aquatics programming and provides information to patrons.
  2. Processes swim lesson registrations, open swim fees, and all other pool financial transactions. Balances daily cash reports prior to leaving facility.
  3. Assists with the inventory for pool/office supplies.
  4. Assists with the distribution and collection of evaluations. Completes required paperwork as needed.
  5. Participates in all in-service trainings throughout seasons.
  6. Enforces all pool rules and regulations.
  7. Provides assistance in the mentoring of Junior Lifeguards.
  8. Assists with pool maintenance projects and assignments as needed. Performs all other duties as assigned by Assistant Pool Manager and Head Pool Manager.
