Overview
The Utah State University Department of Physics invites applications for an Assistant Professor, tenure track position in computational plasma physics. Preference will be given to candidates with a track-record of using leadership class computing facilities to obtain high-impact plasma physics results. The successful candidate will demonstrate the potential for excellent teaching of a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate physics courses. This is an academic year (nine-month), tenure track position. The relative weights assigned to domains of responsibility are 50% in research, 40% in teaching, and 10% in service. A competitive start-up package is available to support an active computational physics research program. Expectations for the position include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, mentoring and funding student research, establishing and maintaining a funded research program, and regularly publishing scientific results. The estimated start date for this position is August 1, 2025.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Successful candidates must have completed a PhD in physics or a related field as of the employment date.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Preference will be given to applicants who show promise of excellence in research and teaching, and who
    clearly describe how their research will strengthen current departmental activities in plasma physics.
