Primary Purpose of Department
The Energy Production and Infrastructure Center ( EPIC) is dedicated to educating and training highly skilled engineers to meet the energy industry's demands and support applied research sustainably. As a university-industry partnership, EPIC addresses the education and research needs essential for a safe, reliable, and sustainable energy future. Through workforce development, EPIC prepares the next generation of energy professionals to create innovative solutions for the energy sector.
EPIC strengthens the technical workforce, advances technological development, and fosters strategic industry-university collaborations for the global energy industry while also bolstering the economic and energy security of the Carolinas.
Primary Purpose of Position
The EPIC Assistant Director for External Partnerships & Special Projects will exercise professional expertise and discretion to manage and grow EPIC's external partnerships and manage externally funded projects. The position is expected to lead the day-to-day aspects of multiple projects, including the following: externally funded research projects, externally funded workforce-development grants, and the EPIC Affiliates program. The position should be able to work independently to develop new partnerships with private and public-sector clients, government agencies, and other various external partners. The position must have appropriate senior-level engineering expertise and be able to serve or act as principal investigator on externally funded projects as appropriate.
Summary of Position Responsibilities
This position will support the EPIC Executive Director in implementing and leading EPIC's workforce development programs.
Minimum Education/Experience

  • Candidates must have a master's degree in an appropriate engineering discipline.
  • Five years of work experience.
  • Previous experience in project management and engineering is required.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Experience in the energy industry is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
