MECHANICAL PROJECT MANAGER

Summary

The Mechanical Project Manager will be responsible for assuring the quality of processes and procedures to assure compliance with contracts, project specifications and Ames' standards in the work that we build.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Instill Safety as a top priority.
  • Manage and support a team consisting of Project Engineers, Superintendents, and project staff.
  • Track and report project progress, budgets, and needs with Operation Managers.
  • Build relationships and communicate with owners or owner's representatives.
  • Identify and secure necessary approvals for all changes in project scope, budget and/or schedule.
  • Provide monthly billings, cash flow projections, and process change orders.
  • Assist with updating monthly schedules.
  • Coordinate equipment and staff needs with regional and on-site management.
  • Be familiar with all aspects of the project.
  • Serve as the project representative with clients at meeting, job walks, and other meeting and correspondence.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience, Education & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or related field is preferred; or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 Years previous Project Management experience on Industrial Mechanical Projects in Mining, OGC, Power or related fields.
  • Ability to lead, influence and motivate others across the organization.
  • Experience working with public and private clients on highway heavy and civil construction projects.
  • Strong organizational, time management and prioritization skills.
  • Communicate effectively with project personnel.
  • Understanding of all construction related field activities, project specifications, applications and interpretation.
  • Strong analytical skills with expert attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office other process skillsets necessary.

Working Conditions

  • Travel - This project is geographically located in Ames' Western Region in West Valley City, Utah. Subsequent projects will be Regionally based.
  • Construction Site Environment - physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb as necessary.
  • Office Environment - extensive sitting at desk and computer; some standing, bending at the waist, stooping and reaching required; ability to lift 5-20 pounds occasionally.
