Microbiology Intern

Position location: Lakeville, MA

The Intern will be required to work on project(s) relevant to Microbiology and present their project(s) at the end of the internship. As a Microbiology Intern, you may be exposed to multiple food safety & quality aspects through orientation meetings, shadowing, and on the job training.

  • Investigate antimicrobial properties of cranberries and other natural preservatives. Potential avenues of research include:
    • Use molecular and analytical techniques to explore the effects cranberries have on mold and mycotoxin production.
    • Help identify and categorize natural preservatives.
  • Gain experience in traditional microbial techniques, qPCR, HPLC and scientific writing.
  • Assist with other microbiology tasks such as sample testing for supplier and ingredient approval or product development, challenge tests, etc.
