Job Summary and Responsibilities

Acentra Health is looking for a Tax Analyst to join our growing team.

Job Summary:

  • This role is primarily responsible for coordinating with external tax firms and acting as the primary point of contact for managing federal, state, and local tax notices. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate and timely communication with tax authorities, external advisors, and internal stakeholders to maintain compliance and resolve tax-related matters efficiently.

Responsibilities:

  • External Tax Firm Coordination:
    • Serve as the primary liaison between the company and external tax firms, ensuring the smooth exchange of information and timely completion of deliverables.
    • Provide financial data, documentation, and reports to external advisors for the preparation of corporate tax filings, including federal, state, and local tax returns.
    • Assist in development of R&D tax credit support as well as any transfer pricing agreements.
    • Review draft tax filings prepared by external tax firms to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
    • Track deadlines and manage timelines for tax filings and other deliverables.
  • Tax Notice Management:
    • Act as the primary point of contact for federal, state, and local tax notices, coordinating responses with external tax firms and internal teams.
    • Gather and organize documentation required to resolve tax notices or audits efficiently.
    • Communicate with tax authorities to address inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and ensure compliance.
    • Maintain accurate and organized records of all tax notices, correspondence, and resolutions.
  • Tax Compliance & Reporting:
    • Support compliance with corporate income tax, sales and use tax, property tax, and other applicable taxes by providing accurate data and documentation.
    • Ensure timely submission of all tax filings and estimated tax payments in coordination with external tax firms.
    • Assist in responding to audit requests from tax authorities and external auditors.
    • Manage unclaimed property reporting function.
    • Provide Accounting with periodic tax estimates for accrual.
    • Work with accounting for any deferred tax asset/liability booking.
    • Reconcile Tax liability accounts.
  • Internal Collaboration:
    • Work closely with internal accounting and finance teams to compile financial statements and reports for tax purposes.
    • Communicate updates on tax filings, deadlines, and notices to internal stakeholders.
  • Research & Compliance Monitoring:
    • Stay informed on changes in federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
    • Assist in implementing tax policy updates to ensure ongoing compliance.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, taxation, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in corporate tax, public accounting, or a related role.
  • Strong understanding of corporate tax compliance and regulations at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with external advisors and internal teams effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel;

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with tax preparation or accounting software is a plus.
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint ERP system is a plus.
  • CPA, Enrolled Agent, or progress toward certification is a plus.
  • Experience handling tax notices and correspondence with tax authorities is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with managing tax audits and inquiries.
  • Knowledge of international tax compliance and reporting is a plus.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret tax data to identify discrepancies or opportunities.
