Huntsman is seeking an Environmental, Health, Safety, Manufacturing Excellence and Engineering Corporate Emergency Response and Crisis Manager supporting the EHS and Manufacturing Excellence and Engineering Division located in The Woodlands, Texas. This position will report to the Senior Director, Global Sustainability and EHS Governance.

In summary, as the Environmental, Health, Safety, Manufacturing Excellence and Engineering Corporate Emergency Response and Crisis Manager, you will:

Emergency Response Standards and Training

  • Develop, implement, and maintain site emergency response standards and procedures, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and deliver comprehensive training programs for emergency response teams across all sites.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training and response drills, incorporating feedback to improve readiness.

Crisis Management Program Oversight

  • Design and manage the corporate crisis management framework, ensuring readiness to respond to incidents across all sites globally.
  • Lead the corporate Crisis Management Team (CMT) during incidents, coordinating with regional and site-level teams.
  • Develop crisis management plans for various scenarios, including natural disasters, cybersecurity events, and major process safety incidents.

Global Coordination and Support

  • Provide expertise and guidance to regional and site-level teams during emergency situations.
  • Act as the primary liaison between corporate leadership and affected sites during crises, ensuring timely decision-making and resource allocation.

Compliance and Audit

  • Ensure emergency response and crisis management programs comply with international and local regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct audits of site-level and regional emergency response programs to verify compliance and identify areas for improvement.

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead post-incident reviews to identify lessons learned and integrate findings into emergency response and crisis management programs.
  • Stay current with emerging risks, technologies, and industry practices to enhance organizational resilience.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., FEMA ICS, CSP, or CIH) are preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in emergency response and crisis management within the petrochemical or industrial sectors.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale incident responses and managing cross-functional teams.
  • Project management

Skills and Knowledge

  • Advanced knowledge of emergency response frameworks (e.g., ICS, NIMS) and crisis management best practices.

  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills under high-pressure conditions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in incident tracking and management software.

Organizational Relationships

  • Internal: Works closely with site and regional emergency response teams, corporate leadership, EHS leadership, IT (for cybersecurity response), and Legal teams. Partners with Corporate Communications for crisis communication strategies.
  • External: Engages with regulatory agencies, emergency response organizations, industry associations, and third-party consultants.

Special Features

  • Global Scope: Responsible for developing and managing programs across all sites in diverse regulatory and cultural environments.
  • Travel: Periodic travel to global sites to conduct training, audits, and provide on-site support during emergencies.
  • 24/7 Availability: Must be available to respond to emergencies and crises at any time, including after hours and weekends.
  • Innovation: Leverages new technologies and methodologies to enhance emergency and crisis management capabilities.
