Metrology Manager - Whitesboro, NY

Scope: Lead company-wide efforts to develop, implement and standardize inspection technologies/equipment/methods that ensure all customer requirements are met while minimizing cycle times

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering, required.
  • Minimum 7 year of CMM Programming and/or Manufacturing Engineering experience.
  • Minimum 7 year of experience Offline Programming with one or more of the following, and the ability to learn the rest: PCDMIS, Quindos, Calypso
  • Exceptional knowledge of multiple CMM types, software and inspection techniques
  • Expertise in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Expertise in aerospace metrology methods, in particular CMM inspection

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • To support and lead all projects undertaken by the Engineering team in a CMM Programming and methodology capacity.
  • Manage Metrology department to continuously improve Pursuit's inspection processes.
  • Evaluate new inspection technologies as they develop and present findings and recommendations to Senior leadership.
  • This individual must be a motivated, self-starter that can learn on the fly and take ownership of their tasks

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Extensive knowledge, skills and abilities in CMM programming language using Hexagon PC-DMIS and/or QUINDOS, as well as CAD/CAM software.
  • Ability to apply higher mathematics and competent in complex trigonometry.
  • Effective problem-solving skills for job related issues and root cause corrective action.
  • Ability to meet Pursuit's job requirements and customer requirements
  • Ability to follow Pursuit's quality system requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills and abilities, maintaining professional interaction with coworkers and any other representatives external or otherwise required
  • Ability to act and think analytically with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Read, write and communicate in English effectively.
  • Ability to correctly read and interpret technical data in accordance with ANSI Y 14.5M.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques with ability to design robust process to eliminate waste required.
  • Experience with Quindos and/or Calypso is a plus

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Tasks related to CMM Programming

  • Possess the ability to affectively create complex CMM programs for a variety of CMM's, stationary or Rotary Table use.
  • Create CMM reports that account for all applicable features based on drawings.
  • Perform Machine Setups and Trials for Development Projects as necessary.
  • Create Process Sheets that clearly define Process Procedures as necessary.
  • Must have shop floor experience and intimate knowledge of CMM capability and functionality.
  • To provide support to machine operators and training to CMM programmers as necessary.
  • To identify improvement opportunities in CMM programming.
  • Possess ability to effectively understand and/or modify Pursuit created macro programs
  • Work with Outside Service providers as needed to support Business Unit needs

Tasks related to Manufacturing Engineering

  • Analyze and document current manufacturing/measurement methods
  • To clearly understand the manufacturing/ measurement processes used for all Pursuit products
  • Present solutions/recommendations to Business Units for capital equipment purchases
  • Investigate current and developing technologies for improvements in future Pursuit manufacturing/measurement methods
  • Audit manufacturing/measurement methods & equipment to ensure global alignment between business units
  • Manage capital equipment purchases by providing cost models for negotiations, preparing ROI's and CAPEX, and further more managing the suppliers throughout the complete cycle from machine quotations to machine installations
  • Communicate with suppliers in a manner that helps achieve Pursuit needs
  • Develop presentations and/or documentation to allow for clear understanding of projects to Pursuit colleagues

Miscellaneous Tasks

  • Attend Trade/Tool shows to keep up to date with current/future technologies
  • Attend job specific training to improve/enhance capabilities

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $100,000 - $140,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, education, and geographic location.
