Shipping and Receiving Clerk

Cape Fox Facilities Services (CFFS) is seeking an experienced Shipping and Receiving Clerk to join our team.

Duties include:



  • Sorts, counts, packages, labels, insures and logs all shipping and receiving inventory.
  • Sorts packages/equipment and deliver to designated office, laboratory or section.
  • Sorts, counts, packages, labels, insures and/or logs inventory which is shipped or received.
  • Reviews shipping manifest, inspects packages, and verifies quantities received against invoices, packing slip and purchase orders
  • Reviews shipping manifest; inspect packages for damages, overages or shortages; verifiesthe quantities received against invoices, packing slips and/or purchase orders.
  • Inspects shipments for damages and defects, records damages and notifies appropriate purchasing personnel.
  • Works with staff to remove all incoming shipments of equipment and packages from the loading dock to the proper staging and storage area.
  • Operates commonly used equipment, inspecting for proper operation and performs minor maintenance, updating staff on any equipment problems or damages, and preparing instruments, linens and other necessary lab equipment for use.
  • Operates government vehicle in transporting goods to and from NIH.
  • Assists primary shipping and receiving clerk(s) in the receiving and delivery of all incoming and outgoing shipments in accordance with all appropriate guidelines and procedures and enters supply items into inventory system.
  • Collects receiving/packing slips and tracking supply orders; coordinating with facility manager on daily activities.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly shipping and receiving work area.
  • Processes biohazardous trash according to established procedures, either by placement in boxes for disposal as medical pathological waste (MPW) or discard as general laboratory waste once decontaminated.
  • Processes dirty laboratory items according to standard procedures.
  • Refills liquid nitrogen tanks from bulk storage and the regular replacement of empty tanks as needed/required.
