HVAC Systems Technician I - II

The HVAC Systems Technician will perform senior level service and repair work for the campus commercial HVAC Systems. Provide support to maintain campus EMS (Energy Management System). Will work with other shops to help troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and control systems.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching and crawling all day. The employee must frequently lift and move items up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.



Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; Technical Degree in related trade/field preferred;

3-5 years HVAC experience including installation, troubleshooting, operations, maintenance and repair in a commercial setting

Experience in troubleshoot and identify HVAC and control issues


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Basic computer proficiency/skills;

Ability to self-start, work independently and complete work orders in a timely manner;

Strong customer service focus;

Knowledge and familiarity of safety standards and regulations;

Ability to see details at close range;

Ability to listen and understand spoken information and ideas;

Ability to lift, push, pull or carry objects;

Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs;

Ability to work at heights of 20 feet and above;

Ability to work outside in various temperatures (summer/winter) for extended periods of time;

Ability to be "on-call" on a rotational schedule


Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Must have a valid and current driver's license for a minimum of 6 months with a clean driving record for the last 3 years and no major violations within the last 5 years;
  • Universal EPA Certification Required
