Description Summit Bodyworks, a premier builder of tool trucks, mobile libraries, moving trucks and other specialty vehicles has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Truck Body Assembler Level 4. Every truck we build is customized from the chassis up; we build our vehicles to suit the needs and desires of our diverse customer base. The Level 4 Assembler works under the Finish Department Supervisor to complete the installation of specialty truck equipment such as lube bodies, stake bodies, dump bodies, platforms and tool trucks. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Read and interpret: orders and specifications, blueprints and instructions
- Assembly and mechanical experience required including: knowledge of 12 -volt electrical systems and wiring installation, use of measuring devices like a tape measure, levels and micrometer, use of power tools like drills, saws, air tools etc., installation of of hydraulic systems (PTO's, pumps, compressors)
- Welding metals according to employer requirements
- Installing a variety of liftgates, walk ramps, bumpers and platforms
- Test and inspect assembled products to discover flaws
- Ensuring high safety measures while working such as donning protective gear for the face and body
- Forklift and overhead crane operation as projects necessitate
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Maintain and wear all required personal protective safety equipment
- Participate in all continuous improvement programs by offering suggestions and exhibiting initiative in areas within direct control
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
- Frequent mobility and/or sitting, standing, bending or stooping for prolonged/extended periods.
- Requires lifting up to 75 pounds frequently.
- Requires stretching to reach items up to 75 pounds.
- Requires working confined spaces.
- Requires eye-hand coordination sufficient to operate machinery.
- Occasionally works at heights using ladder or mechanical lift.
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting, manual and finger dexterity.
- Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
- Requires working in a fast paced environment.
- Requires a normal range of hearing and vision.
- Must understand vague and implicit instructions, and react favorably in all work situations.
- Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid Driver's License
- Ability to pass a structural welding inspection
- Ability to read blueprints and work orders
- Experience with vehicle electrical systems, mechanical systems and installation techniques
- Ability to efficiently use various power and hand tools
- Ability to work with multiple priorities and constant interruptions
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to be responsive and highly efficient with relaying information
- Detail oriented
- Ability to successfully complete a General Abilities Assessment and pass a post-offer background check, physical and drug screening.
