The Operations Center L2 Engineer is primarily responsible for maintaining the operational continuity of applications and infrastructure systems at MGM Resorts International. This role involves providing second and third-level support to address any operational issues with applications and systems in alignment with established SLAs. The engineer conducts in-depth root cause analysis for problems and incidents related to applications and services within the corporate environment. They implement technical solutions that enhance self-healing capabilities and ensure high availability for all MGMRI-installed applications. Additionally, the engineer mentors junior Operations Center L2 Engineers on a daily basis and collaborates with other IT departments to ensure timely and effective resolution of issues. THE DAY-TO-DAY:
Resolve escalations from L1 Analysts and third-party vendors. Provide SME-level support for application issues. Lead project and escalation meetings, and understand system/application topology. Create and maintain documentation (KBAs, FAQs, issue logs). Escalate issues to Tier 3 teams (Enterprise Architecture, Development, Engineering, Vendors) and follow up for resolution. Mentor junior engineers and provide expertise in technologies such as Java, Windows Server, Linux, and Active Directory. Experience working with the following systems: LNIX, Windows Server, fundamental network protocols. Strong attention to detail and troubleshooting expertise. Quick identification and escalation of issues. Excellent customer service and leadership abilities.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Experience with corporate source systems/files (e.g., Payroll, HR, General Ledger, Hiring/Employee Processing, Inventory & Purchasing, Vendor Payments, Time & Attendance). Experience with multi-source system databases (e.g., DB2, SQL Server, Oracle). Experience with at least one of the following systems: Oracle Opera, Agilysys InfoGenesis, Lodging Management Systems, IGT Service Base Gaming, Slot floor systems, Patron Management, Zenoti, Microsoft Dynamics. Experience with Infinium BOH Applications or other iSeries BOH applications. Major Operating System Engineer-level certifications (e.g., Microsoft, CompTIA). Vendor-specific hardware certifications (e.g., DCSE, HP, IBM). Understanding of ITIL processes. Ability to analyze and resolve system-related issues based on error messages.
