Summary of Job Duties:The Assistant Professor will provide supervision of forensic evaluators working at the Arkansas State Hospital (ASH), including monitoring for timeliness in compliance with state law and quality of evaluations and reports and any related contract compliance issues (in conjunction with OSAMH leadership). Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology plus five (5) years post-licensure experience of conducting forensic evaluations.

  • Four (4) years of supervising interns, post-doctoral clinicians, or other mental health providers.

  • No history of unethical conduct or reports of unethical supervision practices (including at the state hospital).

  • Record of having testified in court 10 or more times.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six or more years of post-licensure experience as a licensed psychologist conducting court-ordered criminal forensic evaluations or a board-certified forensic psychologist with experience conducting court-ordered evaluations.

  • Five or more years of supervising interns and/or post-doctoral clinicians; three letters of reference from other licensed psychologists (preferably forensic psychologists).

  • Record of having testified in court 20 or more times.

  • Demonstrated ability to balance the needs of subordinates with the needs of the organization as a whole.

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Provides supervision of forensic evaluators working at the Arkansas State Hospital (ASH), including monitoring for timeliness in compliance with state law and quality of evaluations and reports and any related contract compliance issues (in conjunction with OSAMH leadership).

  • Provides leadership to the team of evaluators and advocacy for the forensic system as a whole, including evaluators, processes and patients as appropriate.

  • Conducts forensic evaluations as needed

  • Leads the fellowship program and internship program for forensic evaluators in Arkansas, recruiting for those programs, and providing oversight/supervision/coaching of participants.

  • Coordinates with the quality committee for all certified forensic evaluators, and overseeing training and continuing education program for all certified evaluators

  • Supervises and provides expectations for administrative and scheduling staff working with the forensic evaluators at ASH.

  • Works with the forensic leadership team and stakeholders to monitor system for needed improvements and recommendations, including recommendations and stakeholder engagement related to reducing inappropriate referrals.

  • Testify in court

  • Provides guidance to certified evaluators and system stakeholders related to best practices, ethical standards, and professional practice as needed.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.
