Oncology Dietitian

Our dietitians at Willamette Valley Cancer Institute are available to help patients, caregivers, and their families with their nutrition related questions and concerns any time before, during, and after treatment. Whether providing nutrition education for symptom management or instructing a patient on a tube feeding, the Dietitians at WVCI play a valuable role on our multidisciplinary care team. We are seeking a compassionate Dietitian to be part of our team. An RD-Certified Specialist in Oncology (CSO) is highly preferred, but a dietitian with an interest in specializing in oncology and 2-3 years of clinical experience could find success in this role.

The general pay scale for this position at WVCI is $64,528 - $93,422. The actual hiring rate is dependent on many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experience, education, job/position responsibilities, location, work performance, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Performs comprehensive nutrition assessments using the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) including completion of the nutrition assessment, determination of the nutrition diagnosis, development and implementation of the of nutrition intervention(s), and monitoring and evaluation of the patient's progress.
  • Identifies nutrition problems and determines etiology of the nutrition problems through collection and analysis of evidenced based parameters (anthropometric, medical/clinical, biochemical, diet history, and physical examination data) for patients identified at nutritional risk.
  • Assists in evaluating patients' nutritional needs and plans for home dietary management.
  • Charts and completes nutritional consult forms and participates in the evaluation of nutritional programs. Follows-up patient progress on a regular basis.
  • Counsels patients and families regarding diet and nutritional needs. Provides education to patients, families and other healthcare professionals concerning nutrition therapy.
  • Consults with staff on specific nutrition problems and issues.
  • Plans and administers nutrition programs.
  • Reviews and evaluates nutritional literature and material for staff use. Participates in the orientation and ongoing training and in-service of staff on nutrition issues, research, programs, and community resources.
  • Provides information regarding dietary activity.
  • Accurately and completely documents all clinical activity on patient charts in accordance with company policy and procedure.
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and revision of patient care plans in conjunction with other clinical staff for all patients receiving nutritional support.
  • Develops and participates in community projects and educational presentations as needed.
  • Participates in Team Meetings as part of the Support Services Team. Works collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics
  • Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
  • Licensed Dietitian with the State of Oregon
  • 2-3 years professional experience as a dietician; Oncology experience strongly preferred
  • RD-CSO preferred
