The Position

We're looking for a Legal Intern to join the Port of Portland!
Are you a current law student interested in performing legal work in the areas of business, transportation, environmental, land use, and/or natural resources? The Port of Portland's Legal Intern position will give you the opportunity to expand your knowledge in these areas, as well as real estate transactions, public contracting, and the regulatory frameworks that airports and marine terminals operate within. Work closely with Port attorneys and gain hands-on experience in an in-house legal department! Learn more about the Port in the short video at this link:

The Legal and Records Division supports the Port's business lines, as well as critical programs such as the Portland Harbor Superfund cleanup and the Port's Shared Prosperity initiative. The department includes eight full-time attorneys, including a two-year Honors Attorney position. The department values diverse perspectives and experiences, and cultivates an inclusive and collegial work environment.

This paid internship will commence in June 2025 and continue through the academic school year, ending May 2026. The position is full-time during the summer, and part-time during the school year. Work may also be available during the school breaks.

To be considered for this intern position you must be enrolled in law school for the duration of employment and available to work in person, part-time, at the Port of Portland's headquarters building at Portland International Airport (PDX). Spring 2025 law graduates are not eligible for this internship unless documentation of post-graduation enrollment in a continued legal education program (e.g. LLM) during the internship is provided when applying.
