ROLE

Works closely with the General Manager to develop and execute community outreach related to Waste Zero and community outreach. Promotes the organization and its services to the community. Ensures company compliance with Franchise Agreements and municipal contracts.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF - COMMUNITY OUTREACH MANAGER

* Ensures Company is focused on business retention and growth through profitable contract and franchise renewals.
* Ensures Company provides ongoing positive customer service and maintains positive relationships with existing customer base, including but not limited to local agencies, city councils, etc.
* Plans and develops programs for residential, commercial and event recycling. Develops and directs public education, public relations, and advertising materials and programs in support of programs, events, goals and activities.
* Provides high level oversight and direction to the Waste Zero Manager department within an operating company.
* Represents Company in the business community and in regulatory matters to maintain good will and understanding of Company's operations, business practices and financial requirements.
* Leads strategic planning for the Company to align departmental, team and individual goals and initiatives with the Company-wide vision; aligns employee performance and contributions with company goals and objectives.
* Works closely with and supports company management and other departments on company initiatives.
* Serves as liaison for recycling issues between the Company and all jurisdictions within the region.
* Seeks and cultivates opportunities to educate the public on the importance of recycling.
* Acts as liaison for local media on waste and recycling issues. Serves as the media contact for the region.
* Ensures compliance with Franchise Agreements and municipal contracts.
* Works with General Manager to develop individual company goals and objectives for public outreach and education efforts
* Develop and maintains relationships with various levels of City staff, industry group peers, external coalition groups, and other related third parties.
* Maintains press clippings pertaining to waste related issues in service area.
* Develops and drives localized social media campaigns to promote company services.
* Develops educational and advertising materials to support various programs, as needed, for the companies and events in the service area.
* Develops and implements on-site waste reduction programs with educators.
* Identifies and participates in community events that are advantageous to the Community Relations department. Represents company at meetings, conferences and hearings, as well as preparing and delivering presentations at said events.
* Oversees and manages charitable contribution requests from community organizations.
* Travels to various offsite meetings.
* Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:
* Six years of management experience in waste, transportation or related field preferred.
* Principles of personnel training, supervision and evaluation.
* Supervisory techniques, resource allocation, planning and budgeting.
* Technical and professional principles, practices, laws, applications and programs in position related area including detailed knowledge of varied procedures common to resource recovery industry and operations supervision.
* Current developments and trends in areas of expertise and highly technical knowledge of a variety of company services and procedures.
* Computer programs, including Microsoft Office suite of applications and using data to inform and set priorities and identify challenges/opportunities.
* Possession of a high school diploma or GED.
* Bachelor's degree preferred.
* Valid Driver's License.
