How you can make a difference

The Sr. Program Manager coordinates, plans, documents, and manages complex, mission-critical programs and projects to achieve strategic outcomes. Programs and projects will have an enterprise or technology focus which requires a strong influencer with the ability to facilitate, collaborate and build consensus among a broad range of stakeholders. This person will serve as the first line of contact and escalation for assigned program's health while continuously seeking ways to improve the effectiveness, efficiency, and output of the overall program. This position acts as a liaison ensuring consistent communication of the program and project statuses are conveyed across the organization.

What you'll be doing

    Develops program/project charter that includes specifications and objectives from initiation to delivery for complex projects within the program. This entails interfacing with organizational leaders to define scope to meet objectives, develop project roadmaps, and develop capacity and resource requirements.
  • Actively monitors program/project progress throughout the life cycle of associated projects in addition to providing guidance on preparing, maintaining, and updating project plans, agendas, and systems set-up for program related projects.
  • Prepares and delivers regular executive level updates. Requires being well-versed in all aspects of the program/project and delivers updates with confidence.
  • Identifies appropriate resources needed ensuring availability necessary for program deliverables. Manages resource needs and tasks within respective departments, other internal departments, and outside service providers. This may include collaboration with functional department managers to assemble project teams.
  • Serves as a central point of contact to routinely relay, facilitate and keep stakeholders apprised of the program's status and respond to questions or inquiries regarding the program. Maintains open communications and relationships with the program team, coordinating and conducting meetings as appropriate. Conducts risk assessment of strategic, technical, financial, or business factors affecting the program.
  • Incorporates post-project reviews with participation and guidance from management team to capture learnings and identify areas for future improvement and updates to project and program methodology.
  • Mentors and assists department team members, Project Managers I, II, and Senior in project execution including project initiation, audit requirements, sharing of best practices, attending project meetings for post meeting feedback and coaching.At times, will be needed to directly run projects as well.
  • Proficiently drives partner and vendor relations as it relates to projects and potential RFP processes. Tracks project/program budget/variance and takes corrective actions.
  • Promote continuous improvement and best practices and represents the EPMO on assigned strategic initiatives including enhancing the Program's PMO functional capabilities.
  • Provide regular inputs and supports the Program director with reporting and project budgets and developing technology project roadmaps
  • Play a lead role in the project intake and annual planning/budgeting process

What you will need to be successful

  • 8 to 10+ years experience as a Program/Project Manager
  • Bachelor's degree in related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with the benefits industry is preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification required (or within one year of hire)
  • Agile certification(s) a plus
  • Scrum Master certification a plus
  • Experienced in creating strategic roadmaps to articulate the vision of program delivery
  • 7+ years of proven experience successfully delivering complex, cross-functional programs and projects in an enterprise environment, with a focus on technology.
  • 7+ years working knowledge and first-hand experience using a combination of the following project management methodologies: Agile Scrum, Kanban, and Waterfall
  • Understanding of budgetary and financial processes such that project budgets can be obtained and managed throughout the lifecycle of a project.
  • Identifies potential risks and works to mitigate in advance of problems/issues
  • Develops knowledge across products, policies, and processes and shares that expertise within their team and across their projects


Salary Range

$109500.00 To $140,000.00 / year

The actual compensation offer is determined based on job-related knowledge, education, skills, experience, and work location.
