Description

Nitsch Engineering's Transportation Team is seeking an experienced and dynamic Traffic Engineer to join our team at one of our three Massachusetts offices: Boston, Worcester, or Lawrence. As we continue to grow our market share, we strive to position ourselves and build on our successful model of client delivery by expanding our traffic engineering capabilities. To achieve this goal, we are in immediate need for a Traffic Engineer with hands-on design experience and knowledge with Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) and the City of Boston process and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct traffic analysis
  • Lead traffic studies and prepare traffic reports
  • Design roadways, traffic signals, intersections, and ancillary facilities
  • Assist the Project Manager/Project Engineer with coordinating technical design tasks and delegate those tasks to those on the internal project team as appropriate.
  • Perform some troubleshooting for construction administration related items and coordinate with Project Manager/Project Engineer on formal response
  • Attend design team/client meetings to coordinate the design efforts with the Project Team
  • Mentor and oversee junior staff

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Master's degree and PTOE certification preferred
  • Active Massachusetts Professional Engineering (PE) license
  • 5-10 years of local experience
  • Experience utilizing traffic analysis and preparing traffic studies
  • Experience using AutoCAD (Civil3D preferred), SYNCHRO 11 Traffic Analysis Software, & VISSIM
  • Hands-on design experience
  • Knowledge of and experience working with Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MASSDOT) and the City of Boston processes and standards
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and multi-tasking skills
