Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensures laser is running at optimum speeds and condition of cut is within standards.
  • Pull parts, de-tab where needed and organize by pallet for next operation.
  • Is trained in the operation of equipment and the precision measuring tools necessary for the inspection of parts produced by each operation.
  • Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction.
  • Measures work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
  • Removes burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from work piece.
  • Reads blueprint or job order for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions such as feed rate, cutting speed, depth of cut, fixtures, and cutting tools to be used. Is trained in shop blueprint reading.



  1. Has the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.



  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
  • Has the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Has the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

Requirements

  • Successfully pass a skills-based assessment - evaluates your reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of equipment (cranes, shears, saws, motors, burning equipment)
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage changing priorities and multiple tasks
  • Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding
