Development & Communications Specialist

What You'll Be Doing
You will play a vital role in supporting the agency's fundraising efforts, special events, and operational activities. The Development & Communications Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the seamless execution of agency events and programs, as well as maintaining efficient administrative processes for the department.

Your Main Priorities
While additional responsibilities are likely to arise on the job, you will primarily:
Event Coordination
* Lead all logistical planning and execution for fundraising events for the agency.
* Plan and execute the Annual Meeting.
* Organize the Annual Staff Appreciation Event.

Holiday Giving Program
* Manage the logistics for the Adopt-A-Family Program and other holiday giving initiatives.

Volunteer Program
* Develop and coordinate agency-wide volunteer programs to enhance community engagement as related to department activities.

Administrative Support
* Serve as the primary liaison for in-kind donations to the agency.
* Record and process all donation data ensuring accurate documentation.
* Prepare and send communications, i.e., acknowledgement letters to donors.
* Take minutes at Special Events Committee meetings and distribute as needed.

Skills & Abilities
* High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
* Experience in event planning, donor relations, or volunteer coordination required.
* Experience in a similar role in a nonprofit setting preferred.
* Experience with donor management systems a plus.
* Strong organizational, critical thinking and time-management skills.
* Advanced computer skills required; knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
* Proficient in data entry.
* Ability to communicate and effectively interact with a diverse population.
* Collaboration and teamwork.

Physical Requirements
Operational staff:
This position involves work in an office setting. Tasks include operating a computer for extended periods, communicating with colleagues, and occasional lifting of office/department materials up to 25lbs. The role also requires the ability to sit for extended periods, bending, reaching, hearing and vision.
